The above is a fragment of Senator Dodd‘s argument against retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies that colluded with the U.S. Government in illegal, unwarranted surveillance in obvious contradiction of both the FISA act and the 4th amendment to the U.S. Constitution. He puts it far better than I could. It’s a shame this man won’t be on the ballot for president this November. At least, unlike the presumptive Democratic candidate, he’s still fighting the good fight.
Good clip. Thanks for putting it up.
I got no one to vote for…
Again.
ugh.

I don’t remember who I originally heard say thing, but come November, if the Democrats lose the White House, they can blame themselves for not having nominated Joe Biden. He and Dodd were my favorites heading into the Iowa Caucuses, but both fell out early.
dammit: vote results are in, HR 6304 passed 69 to 28, with Obama siding with John McCain in protecting the telecommunications companies from civil accountability for their violation of standing privacy laws for a period of at least five years.
Full list of votes
All three of my federal representatives (Woolsey in the House, Boxer and Feinstein in the Senate) voted against this, though Feinstein’s vote looks more like an ass-covering exercise, as she voted in favor of cloture. As did Obama. McCain didn’t bother showing up for the cloture vote.
Secession is back on the table.
If you hear a strange sound, it’s my eyes rolling up into my head.
