Grymkin

The Monsternomicon from Privateer Press has a lot of nice additions and changes to the traditional D&D monsterous compednium. One good example is the rework of Trolls, Troll subraces, and Trollkin.

However there’s something missing: There is a fey subtype called “Grymkin” which lacks any real explaination or categorization. To help myself get all of this straight, I’m listing here all Grymkin by name from the Monsternomicon.

Cask Imp (CN)
Gremlin (CN)
Gristle & Flay (CE)
Old Man of the Swamp (CE)
Rusalka/Bog Nymph(CE)
Trapperkin (NE)

There are no goodly Grymkin, and with only one exception Chaos is the rule of the day with these things. Each of them is, to varying degrees bothersome or downright deadly. Cask Imps can cause some serious embarrassment and possibly even run a barkeep out of business, but the others have a potential to be quite aggressive and lethal.

Alright, I am in total agreement with this. I have spent countless hours searching for more information onthis subtype known as GrymKin. We need more info on it.

There isn’t a lot to find out. It’s a subtype that the folks at Privateer Press have applied to all of the Fey that they produced. There are no rules specific to the Grymkin subtype; it’s just a flavorful term that denizens of the Iron Kingdoms refer to these creatures as, and helps players cognitively separate them from Pixies and Sprites and other traditionally-whimsical happy-go-lucky faeries.
