The changes to skill challenges aren't unexpected; the system as it stood didn't hold up to scrutiny. That they revised the pg42 "how to improvise everything" table is certainly frustrating. I haven't bought any of the 4e books, but I'd be pretty pissed if it went out of date this fast for what boils down to "We changed our minds about the ideal probability distribution."
