Sample Fighter: The Flynn

Gore-stained battle-axes not quite your style? Bulky armor interfering with your social activities? The Flynn is another brand of fighter entirely.

The Flynn

The Flynn is more nimble than strong, and prefers light or no armor and a more gentlemanly weapon. This is the fighter that gets all the women while Dudley is riding around in the hills on his horse.

Flynn is intelligent, fast, charming, and doesn’t like getting hurt. He wouldn’t want unsighly scars to marr his delicate good looks. He wields a Rapier and Main Gauche (dagger) in a two-weapon fighting style and fancies himself to look good in technicolor tights and a feather in his cap. Whirlwind attack doesn’t hold much appeal for this gentleman, as most of his foes are gentlemen as well, and prefer a fair duel.

  1. Weapon Finesse (Rapier), Ambidexterity, Expertise
  2. Two-Weapon Fighting
  3. Weapon Focus (Rapier)
  4. Dodge
  5. Mobility, Spring Attack
  6. Improved Critical (Rapier)
  7. Improved Two-Weapon Fighting

At 9th level Flynn has a base attack of +9/+4, but can add his Dexterity and another +1 to his rapier attacks, and can divert up to 5 into his Armor Class. He has placed the bulk of his skill points into Jump and Tumble (cross-class) to keep things dramatic as he gracefully runs circles around his opponents. He threatens to critical on a natural 17, 18, 19, or 20 with the Rapier, and gets two attacks per round with his main gauche. As he progresses, he may chose to gain Weapon Specialization for his trusty Rapier and even his Dagger, to further improve his duelling prowess.
